Why do a lot of people hate rap music? d-_-b ~~~

My family (mom and dad) hate rap music. I don't know why. They say that it doesn't make sense. But usually rap songs do have a meaning even though it might not be clear it still has a reason. Some people say that rap music promotes drugs, violence and degrades women. I agree but if it wasn't rap music doing those things then it would be something else. My mother told me that rap music spoils the mind of kids but I think that their minds were spoiled before that and I don't think that it has to do with music.

Ok, I'm horrified by how old I'm about to make myself feel, but...

I loved rap when it was "new." I couldn't wait to get home from school and watch Yo MTV Raps. This was back in the day. The female rappers talked about empowerment. The guys talked about political issues or having a good time or relationship issues, but not just the sex part. Now it's just guns, sex and hos. I can't connect to that, and I'm not gonna pay money to get called a ho. I haven't listened to what's new in the last several years, so I don't even know who the rappers are who are talking about issues that would appeal to me...

But I'm still listening to my old school Digable Planets, etc...

The view of adults are different from the views of adolescents and you are right in all what you said that for RAP.always parents refuse what teenagers love ,They are in different directions so don't be surprise they against RAP music , and it's true she always tolk about drugs ,violence and thoes things but the Majority of people love it , Rate of 90 % but the rest 10 % i'm sure that all of them are adults .

It's a generational thing. The time will come in your life when you will ask your teenagers, "Why are you listening to that crap? No beat, no message and what is that in the background? A tune? What's a tune?" :-)
