Bro, listen to me. I'll be completely honest if this applys to your life. Don't hang yourself to one girl. It doesn't help most of the time. In 8 years of crushing on a girl, you should know a hell lot about her. More than anybody else does. Use that to an advantage. Get as close as you can but not too close. Like Rob stated, take what she says and uses it. If she has a favorite sport, offer to play it with her. If she has a favorite movie, take her to watch it. If she has a favorite song, play it and try and dance with her to it. Get her attention on you. If she does turn you down, then open your eyes bro. There are a ton of fish in the sea. Don't keep your hook above just one fish that might never look up. Good luck

Don't put a lot of pressure on the issue by focusing on asking her out. Try to become friends with her and when she names something she likes like a movie or ice cream or whatever, just say, "That sounds like a great idea, lets go..."

I think if you're friends with her, ask her out. It's better to know that she doesn't or does like you rather than crushing on her for 8 years. If you're not friends with her get to know her for about 1-3 months and then ask her out. Either way if she says no, just move on.
