If you're squeezing a bottle an nothing comes out, unscrew the top and see if there is a seal over the contents. Most products seal the contents to make sure they don't get contaminated between production and the customer. If there's a seal there, remove it, replace the top and try again.

ok at the very end of the douche nozzle theres a small white tip pull that out a little and screw back on the nozzle and try again...
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists suggests women never douche for any reason. It causes irritation and kills beneficial bacteria. Here's more info: http://www.womenshealth.gov/publications/our-publications/fact-sheet/douching.cfm

As for cleanliness, there's ole fashioned soap and water. You can go for waxing to remove some/all hair to help with sweatiness if you're concerned about that... but again, ole fashioned soap and water is fine if culturally you prefer your natural hair. Try to relax. There's some nice pheromones being released in that area that actually heighten arousal for many guys, so don't worry about the natural sachet. That sweaty sex smell is usually a big turn on.

If you are concerned about any odor that you think is particularly strong, see a doctor as that could be a sign of infection.... but it sounds like it's nerves.

Relax, soap up, enjoy... :-)
