Should Gays Be Looked Down Upon.?

Should Gays Be Looked Down Upon.? I Mean If We All Really Think About It, It Takes Alot Of Courage To Come Out nd Admit To Being Different... Especially In This Society, We All Try To Fit In and Some Of Us Change Ourselves To Fit In... But Gays Don't Do That, They Arent Afraid To Be Different They Arent Afriad To Stand Out.. .So Why Exactly Are They Looked Down Upon.?

NO ! its their own personal opinion and if their is something wrong then they should take care of that themselves.

No.

We all are taught to like or dislike this group or that group based on our opinions of who we think they are/what they do... and when we form these opinions we REALLY make them concrete and think they are the only correct way to think. We all do this about different things.

The problem--in my opinion--is when we hold opinions of others and entire groups and use these opinions to justify their harm or mistreatment, or look down on them...

The LGBT community should definitely not be looked down upon. It takes so much courage to come out that, for some people, it's amazing they even come out at all. Gays put everything on the line; friends, family, a home, and much more. So why is it that they are looked down upon? Well, like Rob said, there isn't just one reason. Sometimes it's because of religion. There is a place in the Bible that says homosexuality is wrong (which is arguably misinterpreted), but I think the main reason is because of human nature. Most people think that to propel yourself up, you must push someone else down, therefore some are always looking for a scapegoat, a minority. Gays make up about 20% of the population (at most.) So they are the perfect target, especially since a person's sexuality is something very important to everyone's humanity. Others do it because they themselves are gay and do not want to be gay, so they hate on gays to throw the scent off the gay trail. Take the Westboro Baptist Church, for example. Their whole belief system centers around "God Hates Fags." Literally. I think we all know what's going on there.... anyway, I think it's really good that you question the things you are told instead of just taking them to be the absolute truth. That's the mistake a lot of people make. Hopefully that explained some stuff :)

To answer, "Why Exactly Are They Looked Down Upon," I don't think there is one reason that applies to all people. Some people are opposed because of religious beliefs, others because homosexual sex is an unnatural act in the sense that nature doesn't equip our bodies for it and some people are just opposed to anybody different than themselves.

The bottom line is, everybody has a right to engage in any legal behavior they want and everybody else has the right to disapprove of that behavior for whatever reason. Those that disapprove can voice their opinion the same as those who approve and they do.

The above is not an opinion of gays, it's a simple, factual statement of how the world works.

At least how the world works in America. In some countries speaking out is not in the rights bill.

That's very true. World wide, I don't think the problem is a shortage of opinions on either side of the gay issue however. The problem is a shortage of tolerance.

But NO ONE has the right to degrade and dehumanize anyone one else.
That's true but degredation and dehuminization are very different from disagreement. You will never get more respect for your beliefs than you are willing to give to those that disagree with you. Imagine a world where everybody spent all of their time making sure they lived by the principles they represent instead of putting down those who have different ideas. Again, the problem is tolerance.
