MYSQL

I am trying to teach myself MYSQL. In Order to assist that process I downloaded MY SQL program and installed it on the C drive of my computer.

After acquiring some more information I determined that the program would be better located on the D drive the my computer.

I attempted to download the program on to the D drive however in the program appears to recognises that there is already one program on my computer in the C drive and the Wizard would not allow for a second installation because when I attempted to install the 2nd program on the drive I was only offered the options to ‘CHANGE’, ‘REPAIR’, or ‘REMOVE’ program.

So I determined that I would need to remove the software and reinstall it to. I used to REMOVE’ function to remove the program or so I thought.

When I then attempted tore load the program onto the D drive it was apparent that the computer already knew that the C drive is a right location and even though I selected the D drive option the Wizard Wizard would not allow an installation onto the D drive.

The location of the program on the D drive is not critical so I surrendered and installed as I thought the program back on the C drive but now when I enter my password in the DOS prompt I do not get any response. i.e. ‘MySql>’ just a blank screen

Can you please help?

Goto Start/Control Panel/Add Remove programs and remove it if it's there, then try to reinstall it. If it's not in the list or you cannot remove it, the only other option would be to go to Start/Run, load RegEdit, do Edit/Find, search for MYSQL in the registry and remove any references. Depending on what the problem might be, that option is not without risk however.

Lynda.com has excellent tutorials that have been really helpful over the years to me and my team. Their MYSQL tutorials are at:

If you do a search, you can probably find a lynda.com free trial promo code.
