my 7.3 disel engin uses alot of oil but not much fuel wat could be wrong with it

I have a 91 ford f350 that uses alot of oil and not much disel
My first suspicion would be the piston rings. If you see any signs that the oil system is has increased pressure that would second it. The higher compression on a diesel makes well seated rings more critical than a gasoline engine.
