Well, I don't know much about this but heres what I can think of:

1. Less viewers of your advertisement.
2. No way of getting around with out the help of others.
3. No support or donation coming from the internet.

I don't really know much about advertising so sorry. But hope this helped in some way or another.

I designed my first website over 15 years ago, when the technology was brand spanking new. I was still a teenager. Now this is what I do for a living... that is print and web design, seo, marketing, content development, etc.

There are literally TONS of disadvantages to not marketing your product online. Perhaps the primary disadvantage is that your competitors ARE... and they are gaining national brand recognition and selling to people who will never set foot into their store.

If your target audience is online, it's suicidal to your business and marketing strategies for you not to be there as well.

On the other hand, if you market primarily to octogenarians or people who are never online, you don't miss anything.

It all hinges on how the customer makes the decision of when and what to buy. Some products can be sold by impulse buying. You're hungry and you see a sign on a billboard or you see a $19.95 gadget on a "but that's not all folks" TV commercial and you buy it on impulse. The Internet wouldn't do as well at advertising those products as the sign or TV.

The Internet is valuable for products where customers are actively looking for the product. It's all about the search. If you are looking for a specific product, you would never think of riding around town to see if you see it on a sign somewhere or turning on the TV and waiting for the product to appear on a commercial. For products where the customer is looking for something specific, being on the Internet is often better than being two blocks away. Likewise, for those kinds of products, not being on the Internet, or more importantly, not appearing in the major search engines, can be the kiss of death.
