What do you think eHelp should improve with?

Now this is just my opinion with eHelp and it has been on my mind for a while. Just a suggestion but I was hoping that eHelp could improve a couple things. It may be too much to ask for but I guess it could improve the answering and all that. If there were an inbox/messaging software then people could actually get the intel they need on what they're having problems with.

I have also noticed that when people add comments, they never know about it till they check the question. If there were a little notification box then it'd be easier to navigate to the question rather than taking the long way.

This is just my opinion. I'd love to hear other people's suggestions, and hopefully hear from the founder of eHelp and see if he/she can do anything about this. Thank you for spending your time reading/answering this and I hope that this could get eHelp a step further into helping others in a more helpful way.

I think they should add a chat place for when we want to talk to people :)
My suggestions are all about the anonymous features:

1) I've notice that if people ask a question anonymously, but comment later, their name is shown with the comment... which kind of defeats the purpose. It would be great if you could anonymously ask AND anonymously comment on the responses you get.

2) It would be great if you alone could see a listing of your anonymous questions.

3) There's another glitch with anonymous postings I accidentally discovered today that I shouldn't publicize. The site admins probably know what it is...

Thanks for the hard work that undoubtedly went into building this site. I've found it really helpful and I enjoy helping others.

<--------------------------------->

4) I wish there was some way to deal with out of bounds words... there are too many underage users here for some of the language that flies... although they probably write 80%+ of those words here, but...

Re item #1, the reason the name appears with a comment is that you can only ask questions anonymously, you have to be logged in to answer or comment. Anonymous answers would in my view, increase the incidence of insults because the site would be unable to block abusers.

Although it isn't perfect, I agree that it serves a useful purpose and you don't often see that on web site free of advertising.

I agree with skydancer especially with #1. People should be able to comment with out being exploited.

Re #1, I certainly was not advocating anonymous answers. I do see what you're saying, though, Rob.

I still I think it would be useful for the anonymous asker to be able to also anonymously interact with the answerers so s/he could get further clarification, ask follow up questions to the answers, etc. and still have anonymity assured. I don't know what the solution would be to allow an anonymous comment to an onymous answer. I'm more front-end / print / multimedia / marketing than programming.
I don't see much difference in being able to answer anonymously or being able to answer as "WhoAmI1234" for example. As it is, the site is essentially anonymous. Who knows who SkyDancer and Rob really are? We could be next door neighbors and neither of us know it. (Just in case, I'm going to cut my grass today, promise!) :-)

1) The anonymous commenting issue is a known bug, it will be fixed in next updates.
2) It will also be added in next update.
3) I also noticed this bug, haha, it will definitely be fixed.

Thanks for all of you for the precious suggestions and advices! :D

i think they we should be able to have a list of friends on here so that when they really need help we can find them easier. A favorites list in a way I guess it would be called. this way we can keep up to date on questions when new ones are asked.

Yea I agree
The one thing I would change, other than what skyDancer said, would be that some people have the right to remove answers. As an example, if someone is insulting someone else we should have the right to remove it. I guess what I mean is there should be moderators on the site since I'm sure Ryan, the owner, doesn't have the time to always check when we report abuse.

Good idea. It has been my experience that when I've clicked "Report abuse" the resolution seemed to follow relatively quickly, though.
Sometimes they may be overlooked for a short while but insults are removed as well as identifying information and use of the site for promoting products and web sites.

I might be useful for people who've been around a while with good reps (like 1000+) could have limited admin access to help share that burden, if that's not already the case.
That is already the case. :-)

What's the tipping point?
