The number of people who live under communist governments worldwide are about 22 percent of the world population. The numbers that are members of communist organizations however is much smaller than that. At the height of the Soviet Union's power, fewer than 25 percent of the people in those countries were members of the party. I would estimate that less than six percent of the world's population are active members of communist organuzations and the numbers seem to be declining.
