How do I get rid of Crickets/Eggs, the cheap way?

Ok, so just now, I found a cricket in my room, and freaked out (i ABSOLUTELY HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATEEEEEEEEE bugs......) so I did what I usually do scream n try to shoo it away. I grab the closest thing I could(Which was a Windex cleaner) and sprayed it till moved out of my room. When I thought it wouldn't come back it was right there again. I kept spraying it as it got on my bed(which I wanna wash now D:), computer, and went into my closet and tried to hid under my shoes(at least it didn't go towards my clothes!! I have a VERY small closet) I finally killed it on my shoe (which I need to disown, just playing, but really..) with the Windex after.. I don't know, 1,000,000 sprays. Then my dad threw it away for me, because he heard me screaming. I also wondered why it came into my bedroom even more then my messy "sisters" room(who isn't that far away from my door, and my room is cleaned I swear! I just cleaned it last week) or my "food bringing up to room brother"(i kinda do that.. but I try to spray the smell away! :( ). I swear all I ever did was trying to spray freshers NOT to bring them in here. So I wonder why it kept coming into my room and not the others..

I looked online on how to get rid of them but I didn't get very far on finding an answer. Since I'm "only" 15 my parents wont let me turn on the AC (even if we are in HOT Arizona -_-) because I heard bug usually don't like cold places, but I do. So, I want to know how I get RID of them for GOOD without having to pay so much.

I also read that manly females enter houses and lay eggs. It freaked me out a bit. I don't want to deal with OTHERS. We manly don't get bugs in the house unless one of the "BUG LIKERS" carelessly leaves the door opened. (I think it came in because of the party we just had, which I wasn't really into, because family gathers aren't my thing. Yet this is a 2-story-house...) Anyways, I don't know if it was a boy or girl, because when I first saw it my main objective was to kill it. So I also want to know if I can like.... get rid of the eggs somehow without trying to check every corner or wall to find them. Please help!

For a free way to prevent crickets, do these steps from blog.ecosmart.com:

-Seal any cracks in windows, screens, foundation and exterior walls.
-Keep any grasses near your home trimmed short.
-Rake any grass clippings or leaves several yards from your home.
-Keep plants about one foot away from the perimeter of your home, if possible.
-Seal trash receptacles and keep them several yards from your home.
-Clean debris from your gutters and rain pipes.
-Keep your home’s damp areas clutter-free to avoid providing hiding places.
-Turn off your outdoor lights or get dimmer ones, since light attracts crickets.

Hope this helped!
