How do you eliminate delusions

How do you deal with someone who has delusions? My wife insists on telling me about little bits of damage inside our home that she believes are caused by someone having a key to our house. This is impossible and our doors are always locked. There are reasonable wear-and-tear explanations. She knows that talking about these supposed incidents makes me angry but she insists on telling me "the truth". She refuses to see a counselor. I have tried to make her less anxious by having the locks changed (4 times now) but this only continues.

Getting angry with a person that has mental problems is counter-productive. Keep in mind that the thing with the locks is a symptom, not the real issue.

I would be a good listener and calmly ask questions and try to steer her to the realization that she needs counseling. If you can convince her that both of you need to talk to a counselor just to get her there I would do that like, "This may be me but I think we need to do this and I need your participation to help me." The counselor will sort that out very quickly. Try to work toward a "you and me against the world" approach rather than anything polarizing.
