How to find a missing cat?

my I year old unaltered cat went missing 12 days ago, the day he went missing is the day I scheduled him to get neutered ironically. He was mostly an inside cat, but as he got older he started going outside more, but he never seemed to stray very far away. There are other cats on my street who also go outside, and they are still around, but I have to say, I think they are all fixed I am so worried about this cat, I don't understand how he could just disappear like that! Ive asked some of my neighbors, Ive been to the shelters, put ads on craigslist. I don't know what else to do!!

Hang something he has layed on outside in your yard, they have an amazing sense of smell from very long distances, if he picks up his scent he will follow it back to your house, put down food and water also for him.....hope it helps..

Have you tried putting up posters and offering a reward to anyone who finds him? This will save you a lot of time going around town yourself looking for him 100+ eyes are better than only 2. I really hope that you find him x

yes, We did make up some flyers and put them up within a few blocks of our house, included 2 convenience stores nearby.
The little guy is the right age to start looking for a social life. Sometimes cats go off and hide for a while, then one day they'll show up again. If there are any buildings he can get under or places he can hide like a wooded area check them and put some food outside overnight and watch to see if it's eaten. You might include a note promising to call off the neutering if he'll just come back home. :-)

Well. there are no wooded areas near us, but there are plenty of areas he could be hanging out with females. I guess it is funny he disappeared on the day I scheduled his surgery.
Sometimes animals have a better understanding of what's going on than we give them credit for. I hope you find him.
