Is there such a thing as an eHelp glutton/stalker?

Ok, so I do realize this may come off a little petty, but I can't help but notice something on ehelp that's starting to drive me away from ehelp...

I started reading ehelp questions because they were pertinent to me somewhat. Then I started answering some that were peaking my interest in possibly helping someone in need (or just to make a point). But then I realized there a few people on this forum that are coming to the table with advice from many different areas. Quite literally, there are people on ehelp that have answered THOUSANDS of questions in relatively short periods of time. I haven't read all their answers, but you can easily see how many by clicking on profiles.

I don't think it's right to answer so many questions, simply because of such an amount would deminish the value of each answer.

How can someone have so much to say about so many different subjects? Does anyone think that these people are hogging the advice forum? Does anyone have an idea why these people are urged to answer so much on such a broad spectrum? And really, aren't these people just sounding self-righteous and know-it-all-y?!

I would assume you're talking about me.

When I started here, fewer than half of the questions were being answered and often it was weeks before any answer appeared. It is my view that if you're going to run an answer forum, the first element should be that people get answers and that they are prompt enough to provide help with their problem. If someone posts that their refrigerator isn't working, next week does nothing to help preserve their food. If you had taken the time to look through the answers, you would have found that a great number of them only have one answer. Remove that one and the number is zero.

When a question is posted, I have no way of knowing when, or if, it will be answered so I post an answer if I can think of anything that might help. If you have a better solution or evidence that what I write is factually incorrect, you should put yours up.

You need to rethink the idea that the number of answers someone provides diminishes the value of any one answer. The value is whether it's factually correct and useful to the person asking it.

I agree with you that I answer too many questions. If you can insure questions get prompt, meaningful answers, I'll stand down but it doesn't make sense to penalize the people asking by witholding answers just in case you might find one you want to answer. That simply defeats the purpose of the site.

The issue here is understanding what this site is supposed to provide. If it was a chat room, some of your silly labels might apply but that's not what it is. Instead of sitting in the stands and complaining, come on down and get in the game. I don't mind sitting on the bench. :-)

For me I only answer questions that I know something about or I could possibly help someone. I wouldn't say they are being know it alls because they could simply enjoy helping people. Feel free to comment and discuss with me more if you would like.
