Having problems with a screen camera software. can you help?

I downloaded Cam Studio, its the first version, I am pretty sure. I am not much of a computer person. But I recently got on this virtual world and want to make a virtual movie on it. So I saved and installed Cam Studio. I clicked SWF Producer, and clicked file then play but I am not sure it was recording and I have no clue whatsoever how to save the video or open it. Can you help me? :D

First, CamStudio has nothing to do with a camera. It makes videos of your computer screen for people who want to demonstrate software for example. I would recommend that you download and install both the latest version and the lossless codec at this link: http://camstudio.org/

You set the program up for the area of the screen you want to record and then run the recording. It will produce a standard AVI video that can be converted to SWF.

It is an excellent product but due to the complexity of what it does, how well it works depends on your computer and how your video display system is set up. If you have problems, the two links below have a lot of information on options for dealing with those issues. If you type "CamStudio" or "Cam Studio" in the box with the magnifying glass at the top right of this page, you will find answers to a lot of questions that have already been answered here on this product.

The problem is. I am trying to record a video of my desktop. Kind of like doing control print screen then control v on photoshop to make it a picture, but videotaping it. I can't seem to get the Cam Studio Software to do that for me..This is very confusing. Especially for a blonde like me, Lol.
Maybe if we dip the keyboard in some Clairol?.... :-)

It will help if you describe briefly what you're doing to try to get it to work and what the program does when you try that. After the install you should have a bright blue logo on your desktop labeled "CamStudio." Load the program, click on file/Record. What happens?

if you click open and nothing happens, you most likely don't have a flash player installed or shockwave. Try saving in a different format like FLC a more common file type for online movies if that is what you mean by virtual world.

oh, go to the website of the program and look for plugins and also the forum for definitive solutions.
