Impact of australian floods on the world economic

Asked Jan 15, 2011
As tragic as the flooding is for the Australian people, there are economic benefits for such an event in areas where much of the property is insured and the people are capable of fixing the damage. Think of all of the things that need to be replaced and the jobs that will be created cleaning up the damage and doing the repairs and replacements.

A good way to tell what may have an impact on the world economy is how the stock markets react. Stock traders are always looking forward trying to predict the future. There has been no downturn in the markets as a result of the flooding. The iShares MSCI Australia Index (EWA) which represents a basket of major Australian industries has gained in the period of the flooding.

The Australian people are very strong and resilient. They will survive this and come back even stronger.
