How do I remove avg free from my computer?

I have installed the AVG Free Virus Protection & now wish to remove it from my computer. I have had difficulties doing so for some time now. I have searched the web for tips & helpful ways to remove it & many of the sites advise to re-install & then uninstall. I have done so & have attempted many other techniques & tips which have failed me. I have also tried the usual uninstall using remove/add on the computer, it will either have an error or stop half way. If anybody can help me it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

AVG offers removal tools for both the 32 and 64 bit versions at the link below. They are the two at the top of the list.
