My computer won't recognise my camera memory card?

Ok, I have a *reads off card* memory stick PRO duo, magic gate...Sony...2g...Anywho I have a camera card, and I put it into my computer and a green light came on but when I went start>my computer and clicked on the port and it said "please insert device into port whatever." So I tried putting it into a memory card converter thing and the computer recognised the usb converter but not the memory card inside it. I can't figure out why it won't work and I need to upload the photos urgently: so any help is greatly appreciated.

P.S. If it helps the card doesn't really seem to fit any of the ports or any of my cameras properly but the green light still comes on.

There is a lot more to making gadgets like that work than just making the light come on. In order to do what you're trying to do the card has to be the right storage device for that camera and it has to be compatable with the adaptor you're using to move the photos into the computer.

Start with the camera. Put the storage device back in the camera and see if you can find the pictures. If you can't, that's the wrong card for that camera.

If you can see them, look at the information that came with the camera and see what kind of adaptor you need to read the card into the USB device. Follow the procedure that came with the camera to make sure everything is compatable.
