The devil is always in the details and this question has no details.

You need a product or service that you have super skills and knowledge about; a clear and reasonable plan for how you can bring business in the door consistently and enough money to survive long enough to put your plan into action. If the business involves selling a product, you must be able to buy the product at a low enough price to compete with the current competieion.

Whether you survive in business will not depend on how much you want to be there it will depend on whether the buying public wants you there. Before you make the move, you should have a specific idea of what you will provide the public that will make them want to deal with you over your competition. Don't think you will just open your door and the world will rush in. Going into business is more like jumping into a gang fight against a group of experienced fighters. You'd better know how to fight.

Here are some of the first steps to start a business:
1. Find something you are talented enough at that you can sell, whether it be a product, service, web page, etc.
2. Figure out how much money you really think you can make by doing it as a side project or hobby. People underestimate work and sellability too often so testing your idea from # 1 is huge.
3. Once you have something you think you can run with, create a business plan including projected financials, marketing and sales plan, 2 years worth of budgets, and projected start costs.
4. Run the idea off 4 people you can trust that are smarter than you, ask them to shoot holes through it.
5. If it still holds up, incorporate and fund the business.
6. Buy insurance, begin production or development work toward your idea.
7. Hire employees including salespeople.
8. Start to actively manage the business so it becomes profitable (This is a real science...)
