I recently had gall bladder removed, and the bandages left large red scars.can I sue for negligence?

after my surgery,I noticed a blister popping out from one of my bandages.I brought it to the nurses attention and I heard nothing back on this matter. So, I assumed the blistering wasn't an issue. When I returned home, I removed the bandages only to find severe blistering where the bandages were.I went to the surgeon's office. The nurse said,"looks like someone has an allergic reaction to latex". I was given some cream to apply, but it didn't do anything. Now I have permanent, big red scars on my stomach. Is this considered medical negligence?
Why use latex, when latex free is no more expensive? Also,if someone checked me out when I complained, could this have been prevented?

In order for a lawsuit to have merit, you have to prove that the provider did something that was outside the medical standards for that procedure or failed to do something medical standards required. When you go for a gallblatter operation, it's normal to expect you will likely have a scar. Sometimes the scarring is signifigant. It sounds like the questions here are:

*Is the scarring the result of an alergy to the type bandages?
*Is it a standard medical practice to test for allergies before the operation?
*Is the difference in the scarring from the blisters and the scarring from the operation (that you would have had anyway) enough to damage you in some way.

In most all lawsuits, "the devil's in the details." This sounds like it fits that mold.

I don't know what caused the big red scars all over the right side of my stomach.I had an operation 6 years ago,and they tested for reactions that I might have before any surgery was done.(not the same hospital). The scarring from surgery you can hardly notice.I'm very emotionally upset and depressed that I'm going to have to go through the rest of my life with these scars
