The bark on my eucalyptus tree is peeling and has bumps on it. what is wrong with it?

I notice that the bark on my eucalyptus tree is peeling throughout and it has a series of bumps all along the bottom half. Also, the leaves are dry and yellowed. These trees are supposedly hardy and can withstand anything. I live in Las Vegas.
Thanks.

Eucalyptus trees naturally peel and make an attractive color pattern. Photos:

Animals attempting to climb the tree will damage the bark. Assuming you don't have a loose giant panda in the neighborhood, I'd check out the photos and see if that looks like your tree.

Thank you for the info. I will also keep my eye out for any giant pandas on the loose. One never knows out here. . .
