Best friend issue, don't know what she feels?

I was interested in one of my best friends, I told her I liked her earlier in the year and she did not feel the same way. I gradually moved on and the relationship went back to how it used to be, as in we would talk every day etc.

I have been involved with another girl since then and recently I have been asked by my best friends girl friends what the situation is between me and my best friend, which felt like a hint that she actually likes me now. Recently she has been talking to me a lot, initiating conversations and just the other night when we were out together I got the feeling that she now does in fact like me now. But the strange thing is the last few days she has stopped talking to me and I don't know why, so if you have any advice it would be much appreciated :)

i hope that all makes sense

Can you see that this is a communication problem? If she's your best friend and the two of you discussed it "earlier in the year," why can't you discuss it now?

When she's in a lighthearted mood, put a big smile on your face and say, "I'm not good at guessing. I know we discussed this before and you didn't seem interested but if that changes give me a sign. How about a squeeze of my hand or a little hug so I know?"
