During the period of the Boston Tea Party ; is it true that the colonists were very hostile?

The colonists were hostile toward the British government for what they considered high taxes and dumped the tea in Boston Harbor rather than pay the tax on it. The event triggered the Revolutionary War and wars are always an act of hostility.
