How do I open a consulting service as a non lawyer and not practice law. What do I have to avoid?

I am a landman that has a lot of landowner friends. I have a Petroleum Land Management degree and an MBA. I want to open a consulting service, but also wish to avoid being charged with practicing law. What is the simplest solution?

With your education, you have as much right to practice land management as a lawyer has to practice law. If a lawyer gives a client advice on managing his land does that mean he's done something wrong?

I wouldn't write any contracts or attempt to represent any clients in a court proceeding but you have as much right to advise clients in your area of expertise as a financial advisor on investments or a lawyer on the law.
