Can I fill property theft it someone removed my thing and will not tell me were they are?

I live with my boyfriend for 4yrs an he change the locks now I had to call the police to the house so that I can get my things out the house my boyfriend open the an me and the police when all over the house an my boyfriend remove all of my things out the house an the police ask him were is my things an he said that he do not know then he findly said that he removed the things and he is not going to gave them back here the thing I had 4yrs for things there from clothers, shoes, furniture, also he sending back, trashing my mail what can I do

What did the police say you should do? They should advise you whether the evidence meets the criteria for a crime or not. If it doesn't, make a list of what you lost, total what it would cost to replace it and sue him for it.
