Supreme court

if republicans take over congress what would happen if obama had to nominate a new supreme court justice, could they just vote no every time
he nominated someone or is there some kind of stop gap that would prevent that.

Appointments are made by the President with the "advice and consent" of the Senate. Historically that concept has worked fairly well. It takes strong evidence of a candidate being unqualified to be rejected.

Senators are supposed to be able to look beyond their partisan attachment and do what's best for the country but in today's intolerant society, who knows? In my mind (both) political parties are more of the problem than part of the solution.
