How do I know if he likes me?

i have this guy-friend and he is my best friend and he says he cares about me, and he always likes to walk around the school with me so we can have a privite canversation, but I had a friend of mine ask him if he likes me and he said "no!" but he is really cool, and sweet and I am pretty sure he does have those kinds of feelings for me and I definatly feel that way about him,how can I ask or tell if he likes me that way?

i think he does cause guys will normally to a girls friends if they arent comfortable showing their emotions. a good way to tell if he does is if you two talk outside of school. do you two talk outside of school at all?
