My guess is that people try to convert you because you're considerate enough to listen. People like that are looking for an audience, not a discussion. When the other person shows no interest in what you have to say, the discussion has turned into an unsolicited lecture. That's a good time to find something else to do.

Religion and politics are very fertile ground for arguments because you can say about anything and nobody can prove you're wrong. If there is any hope at finding common ground it's with both people listening to each other.

Because they believe it is the truth and they want to help you figure it out as they believe you did not see it or misinterpreted it.
It is a deed out of humanity, we always like to help each others out, it is a human thing, to hold people's hand and guide them if you could to truth and enlighten them.

Just like a professor in a college, it is what made us reach the moon, it is seeking knowledge all the time.

Do not be too closed minded it would not hurt us to listen to other people's views, judge it (not the medium it was delivered by or the person saying it) and then it is up to you.

I believe that there is something beyond us much bigger then us, it is he who makes a couple of cells turn into a baby in seven to nine months which has never happened differently in every single woman in humanity, he who made such a complicated body of ours and made a complicated cardiovascular system and every heart beat so perfect. And who makes the sun rise from the east and set on the west every time never the other way around.

I am not trying to convince you to do anything it is just what I deducted from life around me and what I find to be true, because it is too perfect to be anything else. Just like a couple hundred years ago microscopes were not yet invented, so people could not understand things we consider very basic today. So I believe that there are things we cannot completely understand and maybe one day we would figure out some instruments to better understand life. It is too complicated and perfect to be taken superficially or easily.

Cheers &
Peace
I hope you always be in harmony. And always think and evaluate be bigger then the everyday thoughts of everyday life think differently and positively.

I do not know who you are but I wrote this from my heart and I hope you understand it positively just like it was written. Please tell me what you think, I will stay on the questions page to check your answer.

Peace Peace Peace and Harmony

i mean like I believe in a god and everything. I just dont believe that any religion has it right so far. I think they all have small pieces of the truth. this guy was trying to force me to become a christian. I dont judge people about their religion. im just tired of everyone judging me for no reason
oh and I liked what you said. we pretty much have the same beliefs.
Hi glad we have the same views!

Keep an open mind and look for the truth. I personally believe in one of the 3 God sent religions and would like to advise you if you ever wanted to know more about them,
check them ALL out completely and sincerely

DIRECTLY from the God sent source (the holly books) and not what people say about a religion.
And your mind and common sense would be your judges.

I hope your inner balance and harmony is reached.
On our journey of life we evolve, our surroundings of all kind of nature shapes us who we are; we are a mirror of where have we been, with whom, how and why, so nothing stays the same. From that prospective I think is safe to assume that we are subject to conversion be all meter of life around us. We are converted even when we are not aware of. But sometimes is more challenging then others. Even though people may have a good intentions, but not enough skill or knowledge to communicate the message, so they come across as pushy.
I personally know that there is The God. It was not the case before, but all started when in the summer of 2002 I asked if there is a God to show me the right way, to reveal Himself to me and help me to understand and fallow. God above all gods. And He did.
I do disagree with many religious. Personally God is not religion, also that many of them I believe He dislikes and disapproves, because it is all about a personal relationship. Personally I can not call myself Christian (to many call themselves Christians but know very little about Christ, if they know what they know is because somebody told them something, maybe somebody who had no knowledge also, so , absence of relationship creates a religion, and bad name for Christ and God Himself) but rather fallow-er of Christ, His disciple. Now I have experienced people being healed in an instant moment, present or miles away and all because of a simple prayer (shorter then a minute, many times), I have received the benefits of it myself. Before I had no urge to tell anybody or to try to explain, now every time I see even a stranger in need, I try to help. The biggest help what you can give somebody is instead of giving them piece of bread (or of my mind) is to show them where they can find it. Be it peace, love, health, strength etc., If I don't, I fill I am cheating them the help, and there is no better help then the truth. Now I do not know all, but what I said can not be disputed, because those a facts and reality for me and others. It's not the talk about God or my opinions, but manifestation of God's love and confirmation of His principles as described in the bible, in every day's life.
I strongly disagree with the notions that God is confused. If all of these or several religions are right than we must agree that God is confused and He can't be. I agree that all religions accepted some principles of God, but that does not make them right and productive in general. If one read the words of Christ as described in the bible and compares them with anything out there, there is no comparison with absolutely anything, and we must conclude that there is no substitute. Imitation, bad copy, etc, yes, but no substitute.
So my dear, let not every man be your guide, not even I, in more then steering a thoughtful process of your own, and a question: if there is a God above all gods, if all out there is not coincidental and I believe you know that in general by your life that there is cause and effect, is it worthed to know the truth vs. accepting all lies.
I wrote this not in attempt to convert you, but in love; for the love of God, you and me (every day we ask or we are asked why this happened, and given some theories, from friends, media, politicians, scientist and we discover also so many theories change from time to time, by doing this-writing I do remind myself of the truth and reject the lies).
God bless you and may He help you to find the way, the ultimate truth (not mine, or everybody else's), because I believe you are worthy of it.

They have been programmed to convert. You are correct, they only have a few pieces of truth and are pretending to have it all. That's why they need more followers to prove they are right. Religion is a cult more than anything else. And cult only care about the money which is why they want to recruit more and more followers. The more followers, the more free publicity and donation. My beliefs are quite similar to yours. Well done for arriving at a good conclusion.

Talking about religion with people and saying you're agnostic is like walking into the mall and announcing that your wallet is full but you're not sure what you want to buy, if anything: expect a reaction. Are you surprised that people do not just say "that's nice" and change the subject?

"Agnostic" implies openness -- the idea that either you're not sure, or else that you're certain that no one can know. Very likely that people will share their own beliefs at that point in the conversation, and probably also share their own level of certainty. That need not be at all judgmental.

As to why anyone tries to convert anyone?
1) people like to be right and persuade people to their views
2) people like to share things that are important in their lives
3) I'm told there are angry, judgmental, ignorant, and probably homophobic Christians out there who attempt to impose their views on you out of bad motives by being impolite and insistent. I've never met any personally, but they do get a lot of press. Perhaps you have been accosted by one of them.
