Day lily

i purchased a day lily in april and it was in full bloom. it was beautiful. I planted and it stayed in bloom for only a couple of weeks. it is still nice and green, but no blooms. what do I need to do? it gets mostly the afternoonsun and I water only when it gets dry. I purchased these day lillies from walmart garden shop. they are yellow and I believe they are the connectinut king variety.they have no smell. should I dig them up and start over? how do I get them to bloom again? thanks for your help.

many members of the day lily family are seasonal and will bloom only a few months of the year. to plan a long blooming season with day lilies you will need several types. look for a day lily club in your area.
