How do I avoid all the bugs at antelope island while taking photos around sunset?

I am a local photographer and I recently went to antelope island... one time there seemed to be little or no bugs.... a week later we got swarmed. They were in our hair and biting us. How do I avoid this and still get great suset photos while there is still light??
