Why do baseball players dry off wet bats?

Is there a reason that baseball players dry off their baseball bats when they become wet?

The same reason as why your car will skid easier on a wet road than a dry one. Water reduces friction. When a bat is wet, the chances of making solid contact with the ball is much less than with a dry bat.
