Why did Americans name Hoovervilles after President Hoover

Because people blamed him for the depression and the Hoover Towns,(The shanty towns that sprung up here and there to house the great number of folks that were rendered homeless by the bank foreclosures) They were called that as a cold joke intended to shame the President. Now they would be called Obama Towns but should be called Bushvilles.
