When MP620 black cartridge (220)runs out of ink, cn u print in color?

Asked Apr 29, 2010
Yes and no. Yes, you can still print, but no because sometimes the printer uses small amounts of black ink to darken colors. So basically if you printed a gradient from light blue to dark blue, it wouldn't print right because it doesn't have the black to darken the blue.

First, you should specify whether that black ink cartridge is dye-based or pigment-based. The pigment-based tank is the one that adjusts the hue of blue from light to dark. If the ink tank you're referring to is the dye-based cartridge, then you can still print in colour. You can print in B/W, too, but you'll run the risk of emptying all the ink cartridges. This is because when creating shades of black, your printer uses up all other colours available. Yes you can print light colors but can't print the darken colors because the black ink is the mediator to darken the other color..!!
