Why do we need a verb in a sentence?

Because otherwise nothing's happening. Verbs are actions. Here's a couple of examples of sentences without verbs:
The rock.
The dog the squirrel.
I'm.

You see what I'm saying? Now here are those sentences with verbs:
The rock fell.
The dog chased the squirrel.
I'm hungry.
