Tips on piercing my ear?

ok I have a job and I want to pierce my ears.i want to know how long will it take for the redness to go away and swelling to go away. I cant wear earrings at work but I have this clear retainer that looks like u dont have earings. when would be the best time to pierce them? like when I have 2 days in a row or what?

if it's not too late, get them pierced with a needle not a gun, it greatly reduces healing time because it's a cleaner cut!

I think it takes 3 to 6 days, but don't hold me to that, I haven't had a piercing before, I'm just trying to remember from when my friend got her ears pierced the first time, and that was a very very very long time ago.
