When I close my eyes in a completely dark room, e.g., when in bed, and then open them, I see no change. What I do see is a field of "static" like on an analog TV between channels with mostly yellowish grey and dark grey patterns. Occasionally, a "blotch" of intense irridescent blue or red pops into view. What is this and what causes it?
