Why doesn't a person that was discharged have the benefits as someone that retired. We both served.

I served 7 years in the Army and was Honorably Discharged. It upsets me because being Honorably Discharged isn't really looked at as being important. I'm always hearing things like "we honor or fallen soldiers, our active soldiers and our retired soldiers". I was in church on Sunday and the Pastor ask all the Retired and active soldiers to stands. Well I didn't retire, I was Honorably Discharged. Why not also honor those that served and were Honorably Discharged. We also served our country. We can't even get some kind of Prior-Service military ID. It's like if you didn't retire, you're not important and that is not right.

because people don't appreciate the bulk of veterans who served and then were discharged with honor.
