Can a Dell 1905FP monitor driver be installed in a Gateway 500 Series computer?

I hooked up a Dell monitor to my Gateway computer. There are wavey lines across the monitor. I checked the system property and shows plug and play. I should also mention that the Gateway has Windows XP from Dell installed.

it's fine as to be honest as much as it says dell on the front chances are its a samsung or a sony or some other brand of lcd panel in it! Did you get it to work by the way?
