The English created the first software along with the first computer at Bletchley Park, Buckinghamshire in the early 1940s. Prior to that there was the English woman ADA LOVELACE (1815-1852) afterwhom the Ada programming language is named. Then there was the Irish parson Boule who got to grips with Boulean Algebra (1 + 1 = 0).
As with most things, it was a gradual succession of events that culminated in todays (still developing) software.
