Is it a laptop? If so, what's the make and model? Is it a desktop? If so, is the sound card onboard or off board? If it's off board, what's the make and model of the card? If it's onboard, what's the make and model of the motherboard?
The first thing you should do is run windows update. At a certain point you can choose between express update and custom, select custom, and on the left you will see "Hardware" click that, that's for updating drivers, that might update your audio driver, thus resolving your issue.
