For the last few weeks I have a smell in my nose that overwhelms all odors. what causes this?

I constantly smell an odor similar to an overheated plugin room refresher. This smell overwhelms other smells, for example bacon. I can smell the bacon but it is not as stong as the other odor. This smell is present every where I go, like it's in my nose or head.

As always, you are WRONG. No disease, be it cold, flu, or infection, would cause someone from smelling a foul odor. In some, I'd even say most cases, it robs you of your ability to smell, but there is never a case where it would cause you to smell a foul odor. There is absolutely no medical studies to base your statement on.
