How can I transfer a TV program from my DVR to my laptop

I have a TV program recorded on my DVR. How can I transfer it onto my laptop?

I just did a LOT of research on it, and unfortunately, you can't. I know a way to do it with TiVo, but let me tell you, it's so not worth it, because the transfer rate is so low that it takes almost 12 hours to transfer one show. But anyways, every website I checked (both consumer, and forums) said that it just can't be done with Motorola brand DVRs. Sorry.
