Why did christopher columbus seek a direct sea route to asia?
The reason he sought a direct sea route to Asia was to make trading between Western Europe and Eastern Asia more efficient as boats at the time were the most effective method of transportation and that way whatever cargo they had wouldn't have to traverse over mountains and across gorges, etc...
