What legal action could the son take

my father bought a lot of land with a old house on it ,in time he had not much money so his son devoted his time and money to build a family home,now when father is comfortable making trouble for the son ,even wants to put the son out of the house .My question is what can the son do in this regard he has some bills which he spent his money on the house,but his name is not on the deed his father's name is

He needs to seek a lawyer! Matter on where this is and the laws they have, the son could have some major rights. If anything he could sue his father especially if the son can show a history of everything he has done. Keep receipts!
