What is the difference between highway and freeway in the US?

Well, generally people mix them up all the time, whether they don't know the real meaning, or they just don't care, I don't really know what their reason is, but a highway is generally a freeway, but it doesn't allow trucks. A freeway allows trucks on it, highway doesn't.
