17 years ago I co-signed for $500,00 for my grandson-inlaw at circuit city. last week I went to rifi my house and found out they have a lean on my house. they say because of no payment he now owes over $4000.00 how is this possible? I am on s.s. and can not afford to pay this bill. to get my house back.

appartently your grandson-inlaw never made one payment on his loan and now you are stuck with paying this loan off. You will have to pay the loan off and then go after your grandson to repay you. In doing so-you will have to take him to court if you can't come to some kind of agreement between the two of you for him to repay you.
