Cost difference? Leave my house temp. at 60 vs 70 for the entire month? No changing the stat?

Leave my house at 60 vs 70 for the entire month? No changing the stat at all! My house loses 2 degrees of heat an hour at both temps. Thus the temp drops to 58 and the heat comes on to 60. Same with the 70: heat goes to 68 then furnace heats back to 70. Takes about 3 minutes in each case. Will it cost me more to stay at the 70 degrees?

Well considering what you said, I take it it's colder than 58 degrees where you live. well I can't give you an exact number. Let's say (hypothetically) that it's 50 degrees outside. Well that means it's a 10 degree difference inside your house if it's at 60, and a 20 degree difference inside your house if it's at 70. Well, the higher the difference, the more often the heat will click on. Still speaking hypothetically, if it's 50 outside and 70 on the thermostat, the heat might click on 12 times in an hour as opposed to clicking on 6 times an hour at 60. See what I'm saying?
