If you haven't done so yet, yes you can buy a car in California with your Interim Drivers license. The Interim License is only your temporary license while you wait for your DL card to come in the mail. Your DL number off your Interim Lic. and all will still be the same as that on your DL card that you should be getting. Only difference is that you'll have your picture on it. Some people purchase cars with their learners permit. Because the numbers will be the same. It's just up to you after purchase if you have learners permit, to make sure that it is properly insured.
