Why is there too much suction on the intake autobody of my 2005 neon

i have a 2005 neon. it has a 2.4 motor. the mechanic is telling me it has too much suction on the autobody intake, what does that mean? and how can I fix it?

could be a vacuum leak, most likely. You can check for cracks from the air intake box up to the throtial body also in the bend area's. Start the car take some Eather, "starter Fluid". just a quick hit and release of the spray nosial do this where I suggested on the hoses also if you have a vac. leak the engine will rev-up for a sec. or too. Make sure the engine is cold start when you do this because either is highly flammable.
