Radio is part of the electromagnetic spectrum, and has been around since probably a few microseconds after the big bang.

We've only been able to learn to listen in on them and make them ourselves for less than a couple hundred years. Before that people used to have to talk to each other in person, or send a messenger or letter. Which is still the best way of communicating.

Thousands of people contributed to the invention of the radio.
