How to cope with it: Chocolate, exercise, rest, taking a day off, and just doing things that make you happy. Oh and avoiding stress in the first place. I find that to be the best method of all.

Stress is anything that makes you uncomfortable, there are many stress levels everyone has stress in their life. But stress to the extreme have made people take their on lives and I really don't think chocolate would have been the answer. Meditation, also check out Labyrinths and Mandalas projects for your Body, mind and Spirit.

Wrong. Stress is not anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. There are some forms of stress that are positive.

As for that chocolate thing, that was just one of several suggestions I gave, which has been scientifically proven as chocolate naturally causes your brain to produce more endorphins which provide an elated feeling.

Furthermore, not all stress is to such an extreme as to push people to take their own lives, only some, so chocolate is still a perfectly acceptable answer.

And lastly, meditation doesn't always work for everyone, and some people think it's just fake, so that's not a great answer either.
We generally use the word "stress" when we feel that everything seems to have become too much - we are overloaded and wonder whether we really can cope with the pressures placed upon us.
Self help for treating stress
Exercise - exercise has been proven to have a beneficial effect on a person's mental and physical state. For many people exercise is an extremely effective stress buster.

Division of labor - try to delegate your responsibilities at work, or share them. If you make yourself indispensable the likelihood of your feeling highly stressed is significantly greater.

Assertiveness - don't say yes to everything. If you can't do something well, or if something is not your responsibility, try to seek ways of not agreeing to do them.
